Texas Education Agency grant funds for the 2017–2019

TEA is announcing the availability of grant funds for the 2017–2019 School Redesign Grant, Pilot Cycle, grant program. Request for Application (RFA) #701-17-101 is authorized by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Public Law (P.L.) 144-95, Title I, Part A, Sec. 1003, School Improvement. Eligibility
Eligible applicants include local educational agencies (LEAs) with a campus identified as a 2016-2017 Title I priority school or a Title I focus school and that are not currently being served by a Texas Title I Priority Schools, Cycle 4 or 5 grant.
The entitlement of other school improvement grants may terminate as of the date of award for any campuses selected for funding through this competition.
 
Grant Period
•    August 28, 2017, through July 31, 2019
•    This grant is expected to have up to continuation funding subject to future appropriations by the U.S. Congress.
 
Funding
•    A total of approximately $15,000,000 is available for this grant program.
•    It is anticipated that approximately 10 to 15 grants will be awarded
•    Grant awards are expected to range from $250,000 to $1.5 million.
 
Description
The Texas Education Agency is committed to relentlessly focusing on the students in struggling schools by transforming those schools and creating better options. The purpose of the program is to assist districts with a supported approach to planning and/or implementing school redesign plans in Title I low-performing schools, providing an opportunity for districts to create new and improved learning environments that substantially increase student achievement.


Application Deadline
